Regarding material properties, the following aspects should be considered:
1. Thickness:
Thin sheets (<10 mm): Laser cutting, waterjet cutting, plasma cutting, abrasive wheel cutting.
Medium-thickness plates (10–50 mm): Flame cutting, plasma cutting, laser cutting (power requirements must be considered).
Thick plates (>50 mm): Flame cutting (low cost but with a large heat-affected zone), plasma cutting (minimal thermal distortion).
2. Material type:
Carbon steel: Flame cutting (economical), plasma cutting (efficient), laser cutting (high precision).
Stainless steel/aluminum alloy: Plasma cutting, laser cutting (to avoid oxidation), waterjet cutting (no thermal impact).
